Fueled by a passion for unique design, sustainability, and excellent hospitality, we embarked on a journey to surpass existing standards.
Our goal of crafting unique and beautiful spaces that heal the body and soul, delivering unparalleled excellence, can be seen in our work.
And so, we are absolutely thrilled to be able to share this in journey with you in turning our dreams into reality!
Our story
Meet the dynamic duo behind Salt and Sky Lodging, Brad Hylton and Aubrey Carlson.
Aubrey comes from a family farm in Illinois and took an adventurous route after college, joining the Navy as an Officer and attending flight school. With over a decade-long career as a Navy helicopter pilot, she traveled a lot. And it was through all of this global traveling that she cultivated a keen eye for design.
Brad, a Santa Cruz native and SDSU Alumni, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey right after college. He founded a yoga studio in Pacific Beach and later transitioned into a career as a flight instructor. It was during this phase that he crossed paths with Aubrey, marking the beginning of their shared venture into real estate.
The duo's love for hospitality and design blossomed, leading them to create Salt and Sky Lodging Co. — a testament to their commitment to crafting unique, beautiful spaces that promote healing for both body and soul.
Beyond their entrepreneurial pursuits, Brad and Aubrey are dedicated environmental activists. Their business endeavors are intricately tied to giving back to the environment.
Their passion extends to health and wellness, complemented by their love for their two huskies. From lifting weights to practicing yoga, surfing, paddle boarding, snowboarding, camping, hiking, and exploring new cuisines, they embrace a holistic lifestyle.
